It has happened too many times in the past. The hostess seats my husband and I near the kitchen or the restrooms when we go out to eat at a restaurant. It doesn’t matter which restaurant, what time of day or how empty the place is. Do they see us park our 2002 minivan? Do they notice the lack of name-brand clothing? We don’t frequent any one restaurant enough to even garner a bad reputation. We haven’t been able to figure out the why, but we can count on it happening. Not so with God. God always gives us his best. God always esteems us to a position of honor through Jesus Christ. With God, it’s like getting the best seat in the restaurant, the front row seat at a concert, the seat with extra leg room on a long flight or the window seat on a tour bus. Why? We are the apple of God’s eye and he longs to demonstrate just how special we are to him.
In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye,
Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.
