Adam or Eve?

Standard

Are you more like Adam or Eve when it comes to sin? I’m both. Let me explain. My husband and I ran errands with multiple stops. At the last stop, we returned to our car to find the back seat soaked from a rain shower. The back window was halfway down. Who would leave the window open on a day forecast for rain, lots of rain. Surely, not me! My husband must have done it. He correctly pointed out that the controls for that particular window are on the driver’s side. And I drove. I couldn’t get out of this one. It had to be me who did it. Honestly, my second thought was that he must have made me do it somehow, some way. Like, he distracted me in the drive-through for our lunch break. In the least, he was the one who suggested we stop for a quick bite to eat. I wanted it to be my husband’s fault. Ultimately, I had to own up to it. There was no one else to blame. At home, we cleaned up the water-logged mess and moved on from this accidental annoyance. Faith has taught me to recognize my sin, to own it and to ask for forgiveness. Thankfully. Imagine the mess I would have had to clean up in the relationship with my husband if I had stuck to my original story and insisted on blaming him.

Genesis 3:12-13

The man said, “The woman you put here with me -she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Proverbs 16:6

Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil.

    • LOL! I really did set you up well for your comment!!!! Of course, I was thinking a little bigger (and a little more depth into the issue of original sin and blaming others ), but point made and taken! 🙂 (This must have been Wayne’s comment and not Ruth’s comment. And this is why we love you Wayne- you make us laugh and have a good time in church!!!!))
