I Have a Dryer in My Van

Standard

It’s true. I have a dryer in my van.  It is a 1989 vintage model that still works.  But I no longer need it as we inherited a newer washer and dryer. Now, what do we do with the old dryer? We try to live by the philosophy of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.”  Which in this case, means passing it on to someone else that needs a dryer. It would be simpler and faster to put it in the trash and be done with it once and for all. However, we take the green lifestyle seriously. It is a choice that is backed up by commitment. And it is being tested because I have a dryer in my van. It is easy and even fun to talk the talk. But there comes a time when we have to demonstrate that we walk the walk. At that point, our next move will define what is most important to us and show others that what we believe in matters.

Micah 6:8

He has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the LORD require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Hebrews 6:11

We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.

  1. In case you are wondering… when I posted this, I no longer had a dryer in my van. We listed the dryer on Craigslist and ended up giving the dryer (plus some gas money to come get it) to a single mom in dire need of a dryer. Mission accomplished: being green and in the process doing a good deed for someone else.

  2. Glad to hear that the dryer found a good home. And that you no longer have a dryer in your van. And that you walked the walk — being green and helping someone who no doubt is very grateful and blessed.

    • Donna, I was getting nervous. Before we gifted the dryer, I had to buy a new toilet. I came home and told my husband that I now have a dryer AND a toilet in my van. I now have a toilet in my garage awaiting its turn on my husband’s to-do list! 🙂
